Hey Hey!
I hope you have had a lovely week!
April has arrived! This month I want to focus on the true meaning of self-care and provide you with resources on building a solid self-care practice for yourself.
Self-care is often thought of as treating yourself to a day at the spa, lounging in bubble baths, or indulging in your favorite comfort food.
In reality, self-care is more about daily activities that support your health and wellness and less about pampering (although a little pampering now and then also qualifies).
- Getting adequate sleep
- Eating food that nourishes your body
- Exercising a few days per week
- Nurturing your relationships
- Ensuring you are receiving appropriate medical care
- Scheduling downtime or activities that you find fulfilling
Prioritizing your own needs ensures that you are at your best. Caring for others, managing your professional duties, and other obligations are much easier when you are rested, happy, and healthy.
Take inventory of your current habits and routine. What areas of your own self-care do you feel need more attention? Create a list of habits that you think should improve or change. Once you have a clear picture of your life as it is and your life as you want it to become, prioritize your list by importance or habits that will have the most
significant impact.
I recommend starting with something easy to implement. Getting a few easy wins under your belt will keep you motivated to keep the momentum going.
