Screw the Scale!

Screw the Scale! Hi ! Have you ever or do you
currently obsess over your weight? Do you weigh yourself once a day or more? Do you consider your weight to be the primary goal when it comes to diet and exercise? I'm here to tell you that how much you weigh is not the most important factor when it comes to your health and happiness. Weight doesn't tell the whole story. You can build muscle and lose body fat, dramatically changing the composition of your body
while maintaining the same weight. Muscle weighs more than fat, but takes up less space. As you build muscle, your body burns more calories throughout the day, which aids in fat loss. Consistent training will result in a stronger, leaner, more athletic or toned look. If you are using the scale as your only metric of progress you can easily become discouraged. Your weight can fluctuate dramatically day to day based on several
factors including sodium intake, digestion, alcohol consumption, menstrual cycle, and medication you may be taking. Daily weight measurement doesn't provide accurate feedback for long term progress. So how do you track your progress if you're not relying on the scale? There are a number of ways to monitor changes, but it's important to choose a method that works best for you, your response to feedback, and your fitness goals. If you know that
you are inclined to obsess over certain tracking methods, or that you react negatively to feedback that doesn't meet your expectations, find an alternative that aligns with your goals, your mindset, and what will yield the best results. If your goals are to create a healthy lifestyle, increase energy, and improve your health it's not necessary to focus on weight, or body measurements. Focus on your health, how you feel
based on your dietary habits, your activities, and other lifestyle changes.
These factors far outweigh any number on a scale or
tape measure. By switching your focus from superficial physique changes to your overall health and well being you can begin to build confidence and work toward changing negative self talk and break the cycle of self sabotage. When you feel good it's easier to sustain the effort necessary to maintain the changes that have improved your life. This week I challenge you to be more aware of your inner
monologue and the metrics you use to assess your health and fitness. How do you measure your success? Does this align with your priorities? If not, what steps can you take to shift your mindset to a more health or performance positive outlook? If there is any way I can help you with finding what works best for you, don't hesitate to message me! Have a happy, healthy
week! If you haven't already, don't forget to sign up for my
