First Focus
Hey ! I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! The holidays are in full swing now! I LOVE the holidays! There are so many things I look forward to doing! Parties and cookies and presents, OH MY! In a past life I was fortunate enough to be a stay at home mom for my littles. I had a lot more time available to create a picture perfect holiday. When my ex and I split I had to focus on what was most important. What were the traditions that I wanted to prioritize over the other and what were the things that I could let go? Letting go isn’t easy. We want to do it all! We want everything to be PERFECT! We don’t want to accept that we are in fact human and that we have limitations. I’ve learned that everything can be perfect and I can be drained, cranky, and completely miss that part where you actually enjoy the holidays, or I can let things go and focus on the things that are most important and have time to be present soaking up all the precious moments that are gone too soon. This strategy translates to health and fitness as well. What is your first focus? Your first focus is a list 3 or 4 non-negotiable healthy habits that will help keep you on track. These are your daily or weekly priorities. Everything else you can let go. Less is more! The fewer tasks you have to keep track of, the easier it is to make progress. My priorities include:
Your priorities could include eating protein at every meal, walking a minimum distance daily, meditation, workouts, never skipping breakfast, sleep, hydration, or macro-nutrient goals. Choose the 3-4 things that will help best maintain the healthy lifestyle goals that are most important to you and make those your first focus. It’s much easier to focus on a few things instead of trying to do it all. This will help reduce your stress and free up more time to focus on the rest of your life.
