The idea for Four Seasons Fit kicked off right at the start of 2023, along with the new year. Every year, I see people get hyped up over New Year's resolutions, and every year, I see those same people struggle to achieve their goals. I've been there, too, caught in that cycle. It got me thinking about things from a seasonal
perspective.
January is still the heart of winter (if you're in the Northern Hemisphere). Personally, I don't want to pour a ton of energy into anything during winter. I'd rather curl up by the fire, recover from the holidays, enjoy a warm, hearty meal, do some yoga or a low-intensity workout, and take time to reflect. Overhauling my life with an intense workout routine or a super restrictive diet just
doesn't feel right. Eating salads in January? No, thanks. It made me realize this is why so many New Year’s resolutions fail! We're focusing on the wrong things based on the season's energy. It's not the ideal time for drastic rejuvenation and growth when it's dark and cold. It's time for rest, restorative practices, and nurturing self-care.
This realization got me thinking about how modern life has
disconnected us from nature and the changing seasons. We live in temperature-controlled environments, have access to light anytime we need it, and can eat whatever food we want, regardless of the season. We don't have to sync our lives with nature like our ancestors did. But whether we realize it or not, the seasons still play a role in our success. If you try to force yourself into a lifestyle that doesn't align with the season, you're going to feel the
resistance.
And just like that, Four Seasons Fit was born. I wanted to be mindful of how I program workouts, what foods to gravitate toward, what yoga and meditation practices would serve me and my clients best, and how to mindfully set realistic goals, all in conjunction with the season.
The Four Seasons Fit program is
